"like"

Sharai, you done got me started now, although this won't be as elaborate as your LOL blog.

(sigh) "Like." Our generation and the next (5-30yo) love using it like their lives depend on it. But seriously, do you have to use it 5 or more times in 1 sentence?? You seriously couldn't think of anything else to help you explain your situation, or topic, or just have a good conversation. What's worse is people use it out of context. Grammar class, way back in 4th grade (remember that), taught us that the words "like" and "as" are comparison words. Metaphors if you will. ie Sometimes love can be AS painful and traumatic as a car wreck, but is truly rare and special when it is sweet and ripe LIKE the perfect peach or apple.

You see what I did there, I used "like" in it's correct context. It's not hard people.

What I'm about to say next sounds very cliche and elderly, but maybe if people were to get away from the MTV and the ditsy reality shows and READ! Geez, there are books out there that can spark any and everyone's interest.

You'd truly be surprised on how much insight you will gain by reading just one book and something else, you'll actually have something constructive to talk about in your next conversation. But not too much though, because you might be considered a socialist pig if you start conversing and becoming smarter and wanting to help people out. President Obama you socialist bastard, how dare you graduate from Harvard with a law degree, you and your wife, and give back to your communities and now the country. Who do you guys think you are??! With tax payer's money? Mostly rich tax payer's money?? Ah hell naw, not up in this house!!

Just remember people, society does these 2 things unconsciously, but your hierarchy in this society is judged on 2 things. Well more than 2 but the 2 I will mention right now is 1. How you talk and 2. The job you work at.

There's also how you dress and others but do you ever notice when you meet a stranger and after they shake you hand and get done with the formalities, they ask what you do [for a living]. And there are others that will ask about what you do behind your back because it's that important to our society to give you a rank. Because if you were to say, I don't know, a lawyer. A well respected lawyer, then people (regular people) talk to you with their heads down, or with anger and jealousy and they start trying to use the educated words that lawyers use (but fail miserably). But if you were to say janitor then people automatically "O this guy ain't nothing. I work in an office." And they speak accordingly.

I know because I notice this in myself. I talk differently according to the education level I think you have. But its funny because I shouldn't think like that, but I shouldn't have to dumb myself down because you may not know a few words I use and you're too embarrassed to ask me what the word means. I had to get passed this myself. Now I ask right away. I won't allow myself to remain ignorant.

Anyway, I don't know how this blog took this deep of a turn, it usually always does. But keep this in mind my friends. Defy society!
